Six months ago, I stumbled across a video about someone making over $20K a month with a design subscription business. Naturally, I thought, *Why not me?* So, I decided to copy the idea—but with a twist. I’d niche it down. And honestly, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with copying as long as it’s legal.

But here’s where I messed up: I was so focused on the money that I skipped the basics. No market research. No expert opinions. Nothing.
It wasn’t until six months in—after setting everything up—that I finally searched, Are design subscriptions a good idea? Spoiler: The experts say the model is solid, but only a handful of companies need it. And chances are, they’re already using one.
When I heard that, I couldn’t help but think, Well, that’s spot on.
Lesson learned: chasing ideas purely for the money rarely works out. Next time? I’m going to make sure the idea actually fits the market before diving in.
Don’t make the same mistake I did—focus on value, not just the paycheck.
